FAQs
1) Is electrolysis really permanent?
Yes, electrolysis is really permanent. This method of hair removal has been used for over 100 years and is the only scientifically proven method of permanent hair removal.
2) Is it painful?
Electrolysis is described by some as a heating, tingling or stinging sensation. Pain tolerance is as unique as the person receiving treatments. Each treatment may produce different levels of discomfort or none at all, depending on many factors such as hydration, stress level, menstruation, etc. Electrologists are trained to work within each individual's pain threshold. So speak up if you are in any way uncomfortable.
3) What causes more hair growth in one individual and not in another?
Unwanted hair growth is sometimes simply hereditary. Other causes
include stress, medication and topical influences. For women increased
hair growth is sometimes caused by normal physiological changes such as
puberty, pregnancy and menopause.
4) What are the different areas of the body that men and women can have treated?
Hairlines, eyebrows, upper lip, chin, side burns, beards, underarms, breasts, chest, back, bikini lines, legs, arms, toes, etc. Almost any part of the body can be treated except for the inside of the nose and the inside of the ears.
5) How long will it take for you to remove all of my hair?
Electrolysis treatments are given over a period of time, which
will vary with each individual. The length of time to remove the hair
from a particular area is determined by how dense the hair is, how
coarse and how consistent the client is with appointments.
6) What method of electrology do you use?
I was trained in the SIMPLE technique which is the thermolysis method of electrology. The technique treats the entire dermis (including the papilla) with the right amounts of heat. SIMPLE (Sequential Inverted Micro- Pulsed Led Energy) provides heat to the follicle with pulses that start at the top of the dermis continuing down the entire dermis to the papilla.
7) What should I expect at my FREE consultation?
The electrologist will explain how electrolysis works and the method that she uses. You will also be asked a series of questions and a Health History Card will be filled out. The electrologist will then assess the area to be treated and determine the best treatment plan for your particular case.
You may actually decide to begin your first treatment. It will be limited to 15 minutes, so the electrologist can determine how your skin is going to tolerant treatments.
8) Is electrolysis expensive?
The prices of electrolysis have to be compared to the prices of your other health and beauty services. Over the long term, electrolysis is providing you with a permanent solution.
9) How do I choose an electrologist?
Determine if your electrologist is licensed (where required by law), nationally certified, a member of the state and/or national professional associations and a participant in continuing education.
